An esteemed Russian general has been killed following an detonation in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The event took place on Monday morning when an bomb concealed beneath a vehicle was set off, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' operational training department.

The committee indicated that one theory under investigation suggests the possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. At this time, Ukraine has not issued a comment.

Officials have been are examining the scene, which is reportedly in a southerly district of the metropolis.

Accounts indicate the explosion happened in a vehicle lot near a residential building.

History of Incidents

Since the beginning of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military personnel have been subjected to assaults within Moscow.

While a source from Ukraine previously attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely officially confirmed as a matter of standard practice.
