The ex-lawyer for the former president has resigned as the chief federal prosecutor in the state. This follows a legal ruling that questioned her eligibility to serve.
Acceptance of Resignation
The head of the Justice Department, Pam Bondi, confirmed the prosecutor's departure on Monday. Bondi stated that the appeals court finding made it impossible for her to effectively run her office.
"But do not mistake adherence to the ruling as defeat," Habba stated. "My fight will now reach across the country."

Her resignation comes a week after a federal appellate panel ruled that she had been serving in violation of the law as US attorney. This ruling is could influence scores of legal proceedings in the state.
The appellate judges declared that a interim role that did not receive Senate approval violated the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.

On a social media platform, the Attorney General contended that judges "cannot be permitted to countermand the appointment of prosecutors entrusted with carrying out the fundamental role of the presidency of enforcing the law."
